Our Squads

From first-time competitive swimmers to national-level athletes — LSC has a squad for every stage of development.

The LSC Performance Pathway

Every swimmer's journey at LSC starts in the Academy and progresses through the pathway based on ability, commitment and attitude. The diagram below shows how all squads connect.

LSC Performance Pathway

Squad placement is by invitation following a Swim Trial. The decision by the Coaching Staff is final.

Squad movement criteria

Movement between squads is based on technical ability, commitment, attitude and performance assessed holistically by the coaching staff.

The decision by the Coaching Staff is Final. Squad moves are usually done at the end of each term. Swimmers close to criteria may still be considered. Moves are at the discretion of the coaching team.

Nutrition for swimmers

Proper nutrition is essential for optimal performance and recovery in competitive swimming. Here are the key principles to follow.

Before Training

  • Eat a light meal 2–3 hours before training
  • Choose carbohydrates for energy: pasta, rice, bread
  • Include some protein for sustained energy
  • Stay hydrated — drink water throughout the day
  • Avoid heavy, fatty foods immediately before training

During Training

  • Bring a water bottle to every session
  • Drink regularly during breaks
  • For sessions over 90 minutes, consider a sports drink
  • Quick energy snacks (banana, energy bar) for long sessions

After Training

  • Refuel within 30–60 minutes after training
  • Include both carbohydrates and protein
  • Rehydrate with water or sports drinks
  • Good options: chocolate milk, yogurt with fruit, sandwich

Remember: Every swimmer is different. Work with your coach and consider consulting a sports nutritionist for personalised advice.
